Introduction
Welcome to the iPad Bootcamp for Teachers. This camp is composed of five phases, to be viewed sequentially. While this camp is designed to compliment the face-to-face professional development for the faculty at St. Matthew's, it is open for anyone to join. Here is a description of each phase:
Chapter 1, Getting to know your iPad: In this chapter you will get a basic understanding of the iPad, how to navigate, organize apps, use gestures, adjust settings, and troubleshoot when things don't go the way you think they should.
Chapter 2, Review of St. Matthew's Core Apps by function: Here you will have an opportunity to explore specific apps by their function, such as reading apps, writing apps, apps to help you take notes, apps for concept mapping, and more...
Chapter 3, Teaching in a 1:1 environment with iPads: What to expect when teaching in an environment where every student has an iPad. What teaching strategies are most important? How will the learning process change? This chapter also covers expectations for students and student workflow issues.
Chapter 4, Understanding technology integration (SAMR and TPACK): Technology integration is a process of growth. In this chapter you will learn about taking technology integration from the substitution stage to the redefinition stage. You will also read about the relationship between technological, pedagogical and content knowledge when integrating technology in the classroom.
Chapter 5, A deeper look at project based learning (PBL): Project based learning as a concept has been around for many years. How does the iPad fit into the PBL model? See some video vignettes and discover online resources for project based learning.
